Planning for a mission trip?
Come work at Camp Westminster on Higgins Lake for one week next summer. Here are some answers to common questions we receive from trip leaders: (Please feel free to call with any others!)
What type of work is there to be done?
- Scraping/ painting/ staining
- Groundskeeping (mulching, planting, raking)
- Light construction (we always appreciate contractors, electricians and plumbers who come with a group!)
What else can my group do during the week?
- Swim in crystal clear Higgins Lake before dinner each day
- Enjoy scrumptious meals in our Dining Hall, with our camp community
- Toast marshmallows and make s'mores around your own campfire
- Tackle the Initiatives (for groupbuilding) or the High Ropes Course or the Lighthouse Climb (we provide facilitators)
- Visit local points of interest, if you choose to do so (Mackinac Island, Hartwick Pines State Park, the Au Sable River)
Where do we stay? Nestled in among the pines, comfortable Van Dusen Lodge sleeps 20 people and includes a cozy living area with stone fireplace, full kitchen, 2 bedrooms with bathrooms and firecircle out back.
Why would we want to come to Camp Westminster for a mission trip? In a nutshell, the work of mission workcamps supports the diverse ministry of Camp Westminster. We care about children and youth intensely, and part of this caring is manifested in the beautiful setting we offer each and every visitor. But, this setting needs regular maintenance and care- more than our staff can keep up with! Consider giving time to a ministry that has touched lives since 1925 and spreads God's love all over the world (through our international staff and campers!). We promise personal attention, fun times, a serene setting and lots of muscle-building work to stretch and bond your group in new ways!
