Reflecting on 2013

Westminster by the Lake
A very important component of Camp Westminster’s ministry is the Westminster-by-the-Lake worship services that are held beginning in mid-June and continuing for about ten Sundays each summer in the outdoor chapel. What a perfect spot blessed with all its beauty, history, and tradition! Music is led by the camp staff and a different guest pastor each week. This past summer, pastors were Presbyterian, Lutheran, and United Methodist. All are welcome to these services which begin at 11:00 a.m. with folks arriving by car, foot, and boat. Total attendance in 2013 was 530 people. Offerings of $1,880 supported the campership fund. We hope you will come worship with us on the shores of Higgins Lake in 2014.

Annual Fund Campaign
Thanks to the generosity of the Camp Westminster community, we raised $39,041.52 toward the Annual Fund for 2014! We are thrilled to have surpassed our goal of $15,000, resulting in a contribution of $3,904 to the Endowment. The remaining funds will be used for kayak paddles, arrows, Gaga balls, and all other other things that make a summer at Camp Westminster one to remember. THANK YOU to those that participated in the campaign. We are deeply grateful.

My grandparents both met and fell in love at Camp. After my grandparents married, they moved across the lake from Camp  and my grandfather helped out at Camp with anything needed. When I was 9 years old he suggested I attend Camp Westminster. That week was one of the best weeks of my life. I made so many great memories, praised God everyday, and didn’t want to leave at the end of the week. I always told myself I wanted to be a camp counselor at Camp Westminster when I was old enough. I worked at Camp this past summer for the first time and I am so glad I decided to work there. This summer changed my life for the better because it helped me learn more about God, get to know other people living for Him, helped me to connect with kids from all walks of life, and grow in my own faith. Some days were challenging, but everyday was worth getting up and being with the campers. I hope to work there again in the summer of 2014!

Mission Work Camps

Do you know a group of youth or adults who are looking for a fulfilling volunteer opportunity? We are actively recruiting mission groups to assist in the completion of Van Dusen Lodge. Realizing that God did something amazing through you is one of the most powerful experiences in the Christian life. That’s what will happen when you bring your mission work group, youth group, or adult group to help at Camp Westminster. We have seen this happen year after year and are deeply grateful for the help that so many have given. Workcamp coordinators organize everything so that your group can focus on working hard, having fun, and growing closer to eachother as well as to God. It is an experience that will set the tone for the whole year ahead. You will find that your faith is renewed and deepened as you serve others. Build community while hammering, constructing, painting, and raking during a mission work camp at Camp Westminster on Higgins Lake!
