PLANNING A MISSION TRIP?

Learn, share, worship, and serve as a partner with Camp Westminster on Higgins Lake next summer! Contact us for rates and availability.

WHAT TYPE OF WORK IS THERE TO BE DONE?

There are many service opportunities at Camp Westminster. Groups commonly help with maintenance initiatives such as painting, staining, groundskeeping, and raking—which help keep Camp Westminster operational and beautiful for those we welcome each year. We have also partnered with organizations like Presbyterian Disaster Assistance /Church World Service to provide additional service opportunities for campers and mission groups. For example, with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, we helped to assemble disaster kits made from basic household items. These kits allowed us to go to the store for someone who couldn’t and to make sure that people in the midst of disaster had the supplies they needed.

What is included?

  • Project materials and tools (donations always gladly accepted).

  • The assistance of a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team leader.

  • Yummy meals and cozy lodging at Camp Westminster.

  • Three group activities of your choice.

  • Lifeguard-supervised swimming in crystal-clear Higgins Lake.

  • A campfire and s’mores.

  • A colorful project t-shirt.

What else can my group do during the week?

  • Tackle the Team Challenge and High Ropes Courses, or the Lighthouse Climb (we provide facilitators).

  • Hike the forested trails, kayak and canoe, or learn the skill of archery.

  • Worship in the outdoor chapel overlooking Higgins Lake or walk the Labyrinth or Prayer Trail during evening devotions.

  • Visit local points of interest, if you choose to do so (Mackinac Island, Hartwick Pines State Park, or the Au Sable River for example).

Where do we stay?

Nestled in among the pines are a variety of comfortable lodging options including waterfront wakeyas, treehouse yurts, a guesthouse, and the newly renovated Worthington Lodge. We also have the Holland House in Roscommon available.

Why would we want to come to CW for a mission camp?

In a nutshell, the work of mission camps supports the diverse ministry of Camp Westminster. We care about children and youth intensely, and part of this caring is manifested in the beautiful setting we offer each and every visitor. But this setting needs regular maintenance and care—more than our staff can keep up with! Consider giving time to a ministry that has touched lives since 1925 and spreads God’s love all over the world (through our international staff and campers). We promise personal attention, fun times, a serene setting, and lots of muscle-building work to stretch and bond your group in new ways!

Thank you for volunteering your time and resources to help us better serve others! For more information about mission groups at Camp Westminster, please contact us.
