Our Classroom

We have a fantastic “classroom” at camp to observe all kinds of wildlife. To fully utilize this opportunity, a few birdfeeders were placed outside of the administrative offices between the dining hall and Wakeya 11. Last summer the following birds were observed within 10 minutes: woodpecker, sparrow, cardinal, robin, mourning dove, chickadee, blue jay, and owl. Campers have a chance to observe and listen in an open environment all week long. What kind of birds are in your backyard? Activity: Identify the birds your backyard. Here’s a helpful online guide, All About Birds, by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
