Climbing camps at Camp Westminster are a pivotal part of our summer programming. With the assistance of certified ropes and climbing instructors with years of experience, campers ‘learn the ropes’ of basic climbing techniques by beginning on our unique Lighthouse Climb rock wall. After gaining sound knowledge in climbing best practices, developing core skills, and learning about the equipment they use, campers will progress onto tougher challenges which include climbing on natural rock walls at Oak Park in Grand Ledge, MI and Devil’s Lake State Park, WI.
Rock ‘n Ropes: July 26 – August 1 (Ages 12+)
Many of our campers choose to develop their rock climbing skills at Rock N Ropes camp where they can spend time perfecting their techniques on the Lighthouse climbing wall before venturing off to Grand Ledge, MI. As one of the few places to climb on rock in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, Oak Park is wonderful small public park owned by the city of Grand Ledge, MI. The park contains a long cliff that lines the Grand River. The cliff is 20-30 ft tall and contains well over 100 routes: that’s enough to keep any climber busy!
Devil’s Lake, Wisconsin Expedition: August 9 – 15 (Ages 12+)
For those adventurous climbers who have developed greater confidence in their abilities and fancy a more intense challenge, look no further than our Devil’s Lake Expedition. This trip is the ultimate experience for intermediate and experienced rock climbers. Meet new friends who share your passion at Camp Westminster before setting off to Devil’s Lake, Wisconsin to enjoy a week of camping, climbing, and conquering. Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo, Wisconsin offers some of the best rock climbing in the Midwest. Located in the picturesque Baraboo Hills, the park’s quartzite rock cliffs rise over 100 ft in height and attract climbers from all over the country. Don’t let your camper miss out on this exciting opportunity!
